All ages and abilities
You don’t have to be a good singer… the event is about
joining in and being part of an activity shared across the UK.
The song is challenging but the event is not about musical purity.
It’s about the enjoyment of singing. Singing is a natural
human activity; it makes you feel better and is good for emotional
health as well as being a good physical activity. It also brings
people together and is great for fostering a sense of community
and sharing.
All styles
As the recordings on the CD show, you can do anything with a song.
Whether you’re a rapper, a beat-boxer, a classical singer,
a novice… just sing the song your way. Composer Alec Roth
has written a beautiful song but he’s keen for you to adopt
it and interpret it any way you like.
Visual impairment?
If you or members of your Big Sing group have a visual impairment,
the RNIB have generously agreed to provide all the materials you
need in an accessible format. If you’d like to receive the
pack, flyer or score in Braille or large print:
Please call: 020 8709 9900
or email: info@thebigsing.org.uk
Deaf/hard of hearing?
This needn’t be an obstacle to joining in. Put the enhanced
CD we provide into a computer to see how to teach the song through
Mackaton signing. The signing provides a great way for any group
to convey the lyrics through flowing, expressive hand gestures.
Welsh speaking?
Siaradwyr Cymraeg?
On request, we can supply the text
of the event pack in Welsh.
Gofynnwch am y pecyn yn Gymraeg.
